Meet Clara
Clara McGough is an actor, singer, and dancer from Pittsburgh, PA. Born into a family of musicians, she has been making music her entire life. Starting out as a violinist, Clara discovered her love for music at a very young age. Throughout her childhood, she would perform with local orchestras and compose and sing songs in her free time. But, at the young age of 9, she discovered her true passion - musical theater. Making her debut onstage, she immediately fell in love with every aspect of performance and knew she had to perform for the rest of her life.
Clara made her professional debut at age 12 as Lee Bouvier in Grey Gardens with Front Porch Theatricals. Since then, Clara has starred in productions such as Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (Cinderella), The Addams Family (Morticia), Frozen Jr. (Elsa), 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Schwartzy), and more.
Clara trains in voice, acting, jazz, ballet, and tap with coaches from Pittsburgh and New York City. She studies regularly with Carla Bianco (voice) and Robyne Parrish (acting), as well as at Dance Conservatory of Pittsburgh. She has studied at Norwalk Conservatory of the Arts Summer PreCollege, Songbook Academy, Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, Pittsburgh CLO Summer Academy, and Brevard Music Center Summer Institute. She has also worked with Michael Feinstein, Liz Callaway, Andrea Burns, Russ Kassoff, Kathleen Hacker, Devin Ilaw, Daniel George, Ricky Lee Loftus, Shorey Walker, Janine Hawley, Greg Walter, and Chris Dolman.
She is a multi-faceted vocalist, performing not only musical theater, but also jazz and standards of the Great American Songbook as a Songbook Ambassador. She performs regularly as a guest soloist with the River City Brass Band, and has performed in concert halls across the country, including Carnegie Music Hall, Heinz Hall, Byham Theater, Center for the Performing Arts (Carmel, IN), Palace Theater, and New Hazlett Theater, among others. She has also been heard on WQED-FM and The Saturday Light Brigade Radio Show.
When she is not in rehearsal, training, or performing, Clara enjoys playing violin, drawing, up-cycling and reimagining thrifted fashion, cooking, and spending time with her close friends and family.
